R.I.P Darryl Cotton

(4 September 1949 – 27 July 2012)


ARIA and its community would like to express their sadness at the passing of singer and actor Darryl Cotton on 27th July 2012 aged 62, after a battle with cancer.

Darryl Cotton was one of the founding members of Australian rock group Zoot in the 1960s, where he played with Beeb Birtles, Rick Brewer and Rick Springfield. He then relocated overseas where he wrote songs for artists including Olviia Newton-John before returning to Australia to pursue a solo career. ‘Same Old Girl’ became a hit in Australia in 1980, and throughout the 80’s he took on acting and presenting roles.

Cotton spent the past twelve years touring with Russell Morris and Jim Keays in the band Cotton, Keays and Morris.

ARIA extends its deepest sympathies to friends and family of Darryl Cotton.
