Aussie producer Dom Dolla is the star performer on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart, while Taylor Swift edges closer to matching her own record on the Albums Chart.
Fresh from taking the #3 spot on Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown, Dom’s Saving Up roars from #44 to #11, easily becoming his highest-charting song. Until now, he had been as high as #32 with Rhyme Dust with MK. Rhyme Dust came in at #4 on the Hottest 100 and re-enters the ARIA chart this week at #41. Dom is up for a GRAMMY next week in the Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, category for New Gold.
Taylor’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) holds at #1 for the 13th non-consecutive week, lifting her total number of weeks at #1 to 55 across 12 albums, starting with Speak Now in 2010. One more week on top and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will tie with Midnights as her longest-running #1 album.
The Smile arrive at #7 with Wall Of Eyes. It’s the second album from the English rock band, which comprises Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, plus Tom Skinner. A Light For Attracting Attention topped out at #15 here in 2022.
Ocean Alley step onto the albums chart at #41 with Yellow Mellow. It’s the first chart appearance for the EP, which was released in 2013. The band’s best result on the ARIA Albums Chart so far is Lonely Diamond, which peaked at #3 in 2020. Their 2018 hit Confidence is at #42 on this week’s singles chart.
Following their success on the Hottest 100 (they had a record-setting seven tracks, including The Worst Person Alive at #2), G Flip’s former #1 album Drummer returns at #42.
There is also a new Single Chart champ this week: American singer-songwriter Noah Kahan scores his first #1, as Stick Season rises from #2 to the summit. The track has also climbed to #1 in the UK, Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands.
