#NewMusicFriday: Midnight Oil, Methyl Ethel, Beach House and more out now!

ARIA Hall Of Fame members Midnight Oil release their 13th studio album, Resist. It comes 15 months on from The Makarrata Project (#1 Nov. ‘20), which earned five ARIA Award nominations in 2021. The album’s release coincides with Midnight Oil’s final ever tour.

Perth act Methyl Ethel return with Are You Haunted? It’s the fourth album from the project helmed by producer and multi-instrumentalist Jake Webb. The first single ‘Proof’ is a collaboration with fellow Perth artist Stella Donnelly.

American dream pop duo Beach House release their long-awaited eighth album, Once Twice Melody. The four year gap between 7 (#39 May ‘18) and the new album is the longest time between new Beach House releases. Once Twice Melody is a double album, the band’s first 2LP set.

New Zealand sibling duo Broods release Space Island, their fourth studio album. Featuring the singles ‘Piece of My Mind’, ‘Heartbreak’ and ‘Like a Woman’, the album is the follow-up to Don't Feed The Pop Monster (#17 Feb. ‘19).

American psych rock trio Khruangbin team up again with soul artist Leon Bridges on Texas Moon. It’s the second collaboration between the artists, coming two years on from Texas Sun.

Metronomy release seventh album, Small World. It’s the English electronic group’s seventh album and comes just over two years on from 2019’s Metronomy Forever.

American singer-songwriter Oliver Tree releases his second album, Cowboy Tears. The follow-up to Ugly is Beautiful (#23 Jul. ‘20) includes the singles ‘Cowboys Don't Cry’ and ‘Freaks & Geeks’.
