The 2014 ARIA Awards were held on 26 November 2014 at the Star Event Centre, Sydney. The show was hosted by Osher Günsberg.
The 2014 Awards were a big night for one of Australia's biggest musical export: Sia. The pop artist took home Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release and Best Video. Sia didn't appear to collect her awards, instead sending video messages featuring American stand-up comedian Carrot Top. Katy Perry took the Best Female Artist award on Sia's behalf.
Another big winner was Chet Faker, who was awarded Best Male Artist and Best Independent Release for Built On Glass, in addition to the three Artisan Award gongs: Best Cover Art, Engineer of the Year and Producer of the Year. He was presented with the Best Independent Release award by Triple J’s Matt & Alex who had dressed up as Sia and Chet Faker, respectively. The artist also performed a stripped-back version of hit 'Talk Is Cheap' featuring just a piano and cello.
Best Group was awarded to newcomers Sheppard for their album Bombs Away. George Sheppard opened his acceptance speech by apologising to 5 Seconds Of Summer for his band winning over the Sydney quartet.
Sheppard joined forces with Melbourne ska Orchestra to perform their #1 hit 'Geronimo' together.
Fan favourites 5 Seconds Of Summer didn't leave empty-handed. They took home the Song of the Year for their hit 'She Looks So Perfect', which they performed as the show's opening number.
No strangers to the ARIAs stage, the 2014 ceremony saw The Wiggles win their 12th Best Children's Album award. It was the first award for the group after the launch of their new line-up.
Best International Artist was awarded to boy band megastars One Direction who took home the award for the third year running. The group were on hand to accept the award and to perform their latest single, 'Steal My Girl'.
