The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is thrilled to announce Nova FM radio presenter, Tim Blackwell, will host the 2024 ARIA Awards in partnership with YouTube on Wednesday, 20 November at Sydney Hordern Pavillion on Gadigal land; while rounding out the 2024 hosting team will include Bridget Hustwaite, Latifa Tee, Christian Wilkins and Rhys Nicholson.
Since joining Nova FM in 2001, Tim has become one of the most celebrated personalities on Aussie radio. Having worked as part of Nova’s biggest shows, Tim is best known for his presenting role on Australia’s number-one-rated drive-time show, Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel. In 2015, Tim solidified his status as radio royalty, winning ‘Best Entertainment/Music Presenter’ at the 2015 ACRA Awards.
Famed for his easy-going and charismatic personality, Tim will bring his fun-natured charm to host Australian music’s night of nights in a year where trailblazing global success stories of Australian artists – and ARIA nominees – will see a global facing Awards show focussed on celebrating and promoting the success of Australian music on the world stage.
Tim Blackwell, said: The ARIA Awards represent the pinnacle of Australia’s music industry - My first CD was ‘Aria Awards Album 1991’, so the fact that over three decades later I’d be hosting hasn’t really sunk in yet! After more than 15 years in the Oz music scene and annoying artists for interviews (and free tickets!), I can say with confidence that our country is home to some of the world’s most outstanding musical talent. We punch above our weight, hard! I’m thrilled to be part of the ARIAs and to help celebrate that talent this year.”
ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “We are incredibly excited to have Tim host the 2024 ARIA Awards with Latifa, Bridget and Christian. As a key figure within Australian music and broadcasting for more than 15 years, Tim has interviewed not only Australia’s biggest and brightest stars from the last decade or more, but artists from around the world who are setting the global music conversation. That’s really important in a year when we want to take the ARIAs to a global audience and spotlight the Aussie artists and ARIA nominees currently starring on the world stage as well as at home.”
Adding to the epic hosting team and co-hosting the 2024 ARIA Awards star-studded red carpet presented by Specsavers will be presenter Bridget Hustwaite and actor and model Christian Wilkins, joined by DJ and triple j radio host, Latifa Tee.
Together, Bridget, Latifa, and Christian and will be live from 1.30pm on @ARIA_Offical YouTube channel, where they will bring exclusive moments, fashion highlights and exclusive interviews with global and local superstars live from the Hordern.
Award-winning comedian and judge of the Stan Original Series Drag Race Down Under, Rhys Nicholson, will be bringing their frivolity to the red carpet to interview nominees, performers and celebrities ahead of the live awards. The fun will continue throughout the live ceremony for Stan Backstage, where Rhys will be joined by Bridget to chat exclusively with the award-winners and performers as soon as they step off the stage.
Anri McHugh Head of Brand Marketing Planning & PR - Specsavers, said: "Specsavers is proud to support the ARIA Awards and the artists who make Australian music so memorable. The Red Carpet is a platform for self-expression, and we’re excited to play a part in bringing eyewear to the forefront of Red Carpet style. This partnership with the ARIAs enables us to shine the spotlight on style, individuality and creativity on one of Australia’s biggest stages."
This year's sold-out event promises to be a night filled with unforgettable moments, showcasing the best homegrown music Australia has to offer with a rocking line-up of performers coming together to make the Awards the biggest night of the year in Australian music.
