The artists who held the hearts and ears of Australian music lovers in 2021 have been revealed today, as the ARIA 2021 End Of Year Charts proved Australian music is alive and well, with Sydney-born The Kid LAROI taking out the #2 and #3 places on the Singles Chart and Albums Chart respectively.
After spending eight weeks at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart - more than any other album in 2021 - Olivia Rodrigo has taken the top spot on the 2021 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart with SOUR. The American newcomer’s debut album spawned two #1 hits on the Singles Chart with ‘Drivers License’ (6 weeks) and ‘Good 4 U’ (5 weeks) - both of which have made the End Of Year Singles Chart - plus the Top 10 hits ‘Deja Vu’ (#3) and ‘Traitor’ (#5).
2021 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart Top 10
British band Glass Animals have taken out the #1 spot on the 2021 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart with their hit ‘Heat Waves’. Spending six weeks at #1, the track has so far spent 48 weeks of the year in the Top 10, giving the British band the record for most weeks in the Top 10 on the ARIA Singles Chart (July 1983-present). Released on the Oxford quartet’s third album, Dreamland (#6 Aug. ‘20), the 7x Platinum-accredited ‘Heat Waves’ has been a worldwide success; as well as hitting #1 on the Triple J Hottest 100, it also became Glass Animals’ first Top 10 single in the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand and across Europe and Asia.
2021 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart Top 10
Sydney-born international superstar, The Kid LAROI, caps off a huge 2021 by topping both the End Of Year Australian Artists Albums Chart and the End Of Year Australian Artists Singles Chart. Released in July 2020, the hip hop artist’s debut mixtape F*ck Love hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in February 2021 after it was re-released in the deluxe edition F*ck Love (Savage). A third iteration, F*ck Love (Over You), was released in July. In total, F*ck Love spent 36 weeks in the Top 10 during 2021.
The Kid LAROI takes out the #1 and #2 spots on the 2021 ARIA End Of Year Australian Artists Singles Chart with ‘Stay’ and ‘Without You’, respectively. Featuring Canadian star Justin Bieber, 'Stay' spent 14 consecutive weeks at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart between July and October. It sits third on the list of longest runs at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart (July 1983-present), behind Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ (15 weeks) and Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ (24 weeks).
The 5x Platinum accredited ‘Stay’ earned The Kid LAROI his first ARIA Awards, taking out Best Artist and Best Pop Release at the 2021 ceremony. He also performed the track from LA’s iconic Viper Room as part of the show. Receiving the Best Artist award, The Kid LAROI said: "Starting this, that's all I ever wanted to do was bring up the culture and show the world how good Australian music was."
‘Without You’ was originally released in December 2020 before eventually topping the chart in May 2021 after a remix was released featuring American singer-songwriter Miley Cyrus. It’s spent a total of 29 weeks in the Top 10 and has been accredited 5x Platinum.

Landing at #2 on the End Of Year Albums Chart, Adele has gone one better on the End Of Year Vinyl Albums Chart with 30. The British singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album has spent seven straight weeks to date at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. It also spent the first six weeks after release at #1 on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart; it’s the most consecutive weeks a single artist and album has topped the Vinyl Albums Chart since its inception in April 2019.
