American pop superstar Billie Eilish takes out her second ARIA #1 album as she debuts in the top spot with Happier Than Ever. Eilish’s second studio album is the follow-up to When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? (#1 Apr. ’19), which spent eight weeks at #1 and topped the 2019 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.
Five singles from Happier Than Ever have charted prior to this week: ‘My Future’ (#3 Aug. ‘20), ‘Therefore I Am’ (#3 Nov. ’20), ‘Your Power’ (#9 May ‘21), ‘Lost Cause’ (#18 Jun. ‘21) and ‘NDA’ (#16 Jul. ‘21). Five more tracks have hit the Singles Chart this week including the album’s title track (#6), ‘Getting Older’ (#35), ‘Oxytocin’ (#38), ‘Billie Bossa Nova’ (#40) and ‘I Didn’t Change My Number’ (#45).
The legendary vault of Prince gets cracked open again to release Welcome 2 America, debuting at #5. Recorded in 2010 by the late, great singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer but shelved before its planned release, it’s the first complete previously unreleased Prince studio album to come out posthumously. It becomes the first Prince studio album to hit the Top Ten since Emancipation (#8 Dec. ’96). Previous posthumous releases to chart include Piano & A Microphone 1983 (#33 Oct. ’18) and Originals (#18 Jul. ’19). Prince last appeared in the Top Ten with the compilations The Very Best Of (#2 May ’16) and Ultimate (#6 May ’16) following his passing in April 2016.
The Wolfe Brothers take out their third Top Ten entry as they debut at #6 with Kids On Cassette. The Tasmanian country rock duo’s fifth album is the follow-up to Country Heart (#9 Apr. ’18) and becomes their highest Albums Chart peak. They first hit the Top Ten with This Crazy Life (#10 Jun. ’16).
American rapper Isaiah Rashad makes his ARIA Top 50 debut at #32 with The House Is Burning. The third album from the Tennessee artist comes five years on from 2016’s The Sun's Tirade. The House Is Burning features Lil Uzi Vert, SZA, Jay Rock and more.
