ARIA Impersonation scam

Scammers purporting to be from ARIA

ARIA Impersonation scam

We want to let you know about a scam that has been recently reported to us.

Scammers purporting to be from ARIA, are contacting people via email, SMS and WhatsApp with offers of employment from ARIA.

The scammers are offering the recipient with the opportunity to work with ARIA by “rating” or “optimising” songs in exchange for payment and rewards.  The recipient is also asked to provide personal information and to transfer payments via cryptocurrency.

To make it seem legitimate, they have been using the ARIA logo and branding in their messages and forms. Examples are below:

Domains used so far include the websites: ariaauhex.com and ariaaufq.com.

Please don’t click on any links from these sites! We have no association with these sites.

What ARIA would never do:

Red flags!

  • We will never contact you via WhatsApp, SMS, email etc., to offer you unsolicited employment opportunities – especially without an interview!

  • We will never ask you to transfer money into, or use, cryptocurrency or cryptocurrency exchanges.

  • We do not employ people to rate or “optimise” songs or albums.

If you have doubts about the legitimacy of a communication from ARIA, please call us on + 61 2 8569 1144 or email us at aria.mail@aria.com.au  to check if it is genuine.

What is ARIA doing to stop this?

The scammers are based outside of Australia and are hard to identify– which makes it difficult to stop. However, we are contacting the relevant Australian Government authority and are attempting to have the sites taken down. However, this can take some time.

We ask that you please:

  • report and block these scammers
  • email us at aria.mail@aria.com.au if you have received any communications from these scammers, so that we can monitor and take these sites down.

In the meantime, please always double-check who’s messaging you and please keep on alert!
