For the Access All ARIAs series, Ruby Miles chatted to three of the 2020 ARIA Award nominees for Best Dance Release: Alice Ivy, KLP& Stace Cadet and Northeast Party House.
Some of the highlights include:
Across the board, the panel says dance music has been hit hard by the pandemic and not much will compare to being in sweaty clubs and crowded house parties. However, KLP says it’s a good chance to reset and appreciate life before the pandemic.
KLP and Alice Ivy talk about their creative processes in lockdown saying the key to a good dance release is being tired and under pressure, but lockdown has made this difficult, especially in the absence of good house parties.
Lockdown has pushed Northeast Party House into a more electronic sound which allows them to keep writing in isolation. It has allowed them to produce more remixes for other artists and changed their own creative process for new music.
Whilst this year’s ARIAs show won’t have an audience, the nominees are hoping to plan their own COVID-safe mini red carpets and ceremony viewing parties.
Tune in to the 2020 ARIA Awards in partnership with YouTube Music on Wednesday, 25 November to find out who wins.
