Global phenomenon Billie Eilish is confirmed to feature in the 2020 ARIA Awards in partnership with YouTube Music, with an exclusive performance of her new single 'Therefore I Am' from her hometown of L.A.
The ARIA Awards ceremony will be held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney and broadcast around Australia on the Nine Network, with performances showcased around the world.
Dan Rosen, ARIA Chief Executive, said, “We are thrilled to welcome global superstar Billie Eilish to this year's ARIA Awards. Australian music fans have taken her into our hearts, and last year Billie had the highest selling album in Australia with her massive hit When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? She is truly one of the biggest artists in the world right now, and we can't wait to see her perform her new song for all her Australian fans on the ARIA stage.”
Since releasing 'ocean eyes' in 2016 at just 14 years old, Billie Eilish’s phenomenal and unprecedented rise has seen her build an extensive fan base across the world and become one of the most sought after acts on the planet. She has accumulated an enormous 54 billion worldwide streams (1.27 billion in Australia alone).
In 2019, Billie’s first studio album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? debuted at #1 in Australia, the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand. It is the biggest American debut album of the decade and was the highest selling album in Australia in 2019, debuting at #1, earning 2x Platinum accreditation and an impressive 7 singles in the Top 5 of the ARIA Chart. Lead single 'bad guy' also topped triple j’s 2019 Hottest 100 (the youngest person and first female solo artist ever to do so).
Billie Eilish made history at the 2020 GRAMMY Awards earlier this year, winning 5 awards including Best Album, and Song of the Year for 'bad guy'. She is only the second person ever to win the four main categories in a single year (as well as being the youngest and first female to do so).
Despite Billie’s world tour being disrupted by the pandemic, she has had a busy year, releasing a new James Bond theme song 'No Time To Die' and single 'my future'. Her new single 'Therefore I Am' dazzles with Billie’s signature vocal perfection and displays the incredible songwriting and producing talent of herself and brother/creative partner FINNEAS. The track comes with an official music video also directed by the 18-year-old.
