Laneway Presents, in-conjunction with ARIA, are proud to present three intimate shows at The Lansdowne Hotel for ARIA Week 2017 from November 19th - 21st. Curated by the Laneway team, these nights are a showcase of emerging acts who are representative of an exciting new wave of Australian music. Built on the same philosophy that has helped make St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival a success, Laneway Presents showcases what's fresh for genuine lovers of music.
ARIA Week will once again see Sydney and NSW abuzz with the very best new artists and ground-breaking music industry conferences, showcasing the wealth of talent and opportunity
the Australian music scene has to offer.
Kicking off the first Laneway Presents showcase is New Zealand’s Matthew Young. Hailing from Auckland, Matthew Young makes pop music with an RnB edge, showcasing his elastic voice and skill for creating timeless pop music. His 2015 debut EP DIVE built an online following that had been eagerly awaiting his return. After a year-long hiatus, Young released his single “Collect”, which held the #1 most played spot on triple j in August.
In support is Sydney producer Muki, who fuses futuristic production with forward-thinking beats and catchy melodies and has been referred to as “Australia’s answer to Charli XCX”.
Headlining the second showcase is Melbourne two piece recording project Good Morning. Consisting of StefanBlair and LiamParsons, they create scuzzy, jangling indie-rock with a homespun edge. Having come in at #6 in The Future of Music’s countdown in 2016, the pair have been steadily growing their audience, performing at this year’s BIGSOUND.
In support is Brisbane’s Hatchie, who’s experienced a whirlwind 2017. After posting her debut single “Try” on triple j Unearthed, the solo act woke the next day to a manager and a booking agency for Europe and the UK. The track was recorded with John Castle (Dean Lewis, Cub Sport, Jack River) and Joe Agius of fellow Brisbane band The Creases.
At the top of the bill for the third and final showcase is melodic, sing along, beer-in-the-air, headbanging-with-heart Northern Beaches punk rock band, Dear Seattle. From charting on Spotify viral charts in Australia and the UK, to receiving airplay from triple j, triple j unearthed, community radio, and RAGE, to crowd surfing their way across Australia on tour all year, Dear Seattle have arrived and they’re only just getting started.
In support is acclaimed Gold Coast four-piece indie rock band Eliza & the Delusionals. Led by colourful front woman Eliza Klatt, they have been making waves since their inception in early 2015, with a sound that has been likened to that of Catfish & The Bottlemen and Alex Lahey.
Further details on the ARIA Week line up will be announced in the coming weeks, culminating in the 2017 ARIA Awards with Apple Music on November 28 at The Star Sydney and broadcast around Australia on the Nine Network.
ARIA Week and the ARIA Awards with Apple Music are presented with the support of the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.
