This week on the ARIA Charts, Rosé and Bruno Mars’ APT. becomes the longest-running #1 duet since Elton John and Dua Lipa’s Cold Heart (PNAU remix) sat in the top spot for 10 weeks in 2020-21, while Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet holds at #1 for a ninth non-consecutive week.
Short n’ Sweet is now the longest running #1 album by a female artist since Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) spent 14 weeks on top in 2023-24.
Excluding Taylor’s albums, Short n’ Sweet is the top scoring #1 album by a solo female artist since Adele’s 21 spent 32 weeks at the chart summit in 2010-11. Lady Gaga was #1 for 11 weeks in 2018-19 with the A Star is Born soundtrack, however the album was credited to her and Bradley Cooper.
The highest new entry of the week goes to Lil Baby, whose album Wham debuts at #42. It’s the American rapper’s third solo album to chart here: My Turn got to #20 in 2020 and It’s Only Me peaked at #7 in 2022. His collaborative album with Lil Durk, The Voice Of The Heroes, reached #20 in 2021.
On the Singles Chart, it’s nine non-consecutive weeks on top for Rosé and Bruno Mars’ APT. It hit #1 in late October and its run in the penthouse has been interrupted twice: Gracie Abrams’ That’s So True spent two weeks at #1 in late November and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You ruled in the final week of 2024.
British DJ Chrystal scores her first top 10 hit, as The Days (Notion Remix) jumps from #18 to #7. Also on the move is SZA’s new track BMF from the Lana edition of her 2022 album SOS. BMF climbs from #27 to #17, while SOS holds at #2 on the albums chart.
American country singer Morgan Wallen’s Smile is the biggest new entry on the Singles Chart, arriving at #36. It’s the third single from his upcoming fourth album, and his seventh top 50 hit here, with his repertoire including the chart-toppers Last Night and I Had Some Help with Post Malone.
