Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department holds at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart this week, while New Zealand born, Australian raised K-pop star Rosé makes her long-awaited full-length debut with Rosie.
It marks Taylor’s seventh non-consecutive week on top with The Tortured Poets Department, making it the longest running #1 album so far this year. Last week it was tied at six weeks with Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet.
Rosé’s Rosie debuts at #2. The lead track, APT. with Bruno Mars holds at #1 on the singles chart for the sixth non-consecutive week. New track, Toxic Till The End, debuts at #31. The track’s video released last Friday featuring Gossip Girl’s Evan Mock.
As a member of Blackpink, Rosé has racked up two #2 albums here – The Album in 2021 and Born Pink in 2022 – and hit #1 on the singles chart in 2022 with Pink Venom, the highest-debut from a K-pop group in Australian history.
Sabrina remains at #3 with Short n’ Sweet, but also debuts at #59 with the EP Fruitcake, her first Christmas record. It includes five original tracks (including a Christmas version of her song Nonsense, which peaked at #23 last year), plus a cover of White Christmas.
Aussie hip hop trio Bliss N Eso are new at #46 with their 2004 debut album Flowers In The Pavement, which makes its first chart appearance. The winners of two ARIA Awards, they have scored five top 10 albums: Flying Colours(#10 in 2006), Running On Air (#1 in 2010), Circus In The Sky (#1 in 2013), Off The Grid (#1 in 2017) and The Sun(#2 in 2021).
Rounding things out, Christmas continues to creep up the top 20 of the Singles Chart, with Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You at #8, Wham’s Last Christmas at #10 and Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree at #16.
