British band Glass Animals notch up their sixth week at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with their hit ‘Heat Waves’. The last British group to top the Singles Chart, Clean Bandit, also spent six straight weeks in the top spot with ‘Rockabye’ in December 2016/January 2017.
Moving up two spots to #5, Sydney rapper Masked Wolf cracks the ARIA Top 5 for the first time with ‘Astronaut In The Ocean’. It’s also hit the Top 5 in Germany, Switzerland, Finland and Hungary.
This week’s highest debut comes from Lil Nas X as he hits #16 with ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’. It’s the second single released from the American rapper’s forthcoming debut album, Montero, set for release later in the year, after ‘Holiday’ (#42 Jan. ’21). Lil Nas X spent 13 weeks at #1 with ‘Old Town Road’ (#1 Apr. ’19).
Ahead of the release of Fearless (Taylor's Version), Taylor Swift takes out a second Singles Chart entry from it at #34 with ‘You All Over Me (Taylor's Version)’. The track, which features singer-songwriter Maren Morris, was originally recorded for 2009’s Fearless but was left off the album. The first chart entry from the re-recording of Swift’s second studio album was ‘Love Story (Taylor's Version)’ (#21 Feb. ’21).
Maroon 5 and rapper Megan Thee Stallion team up for the new single ‘Beautiful Mistakes’, debuting at #40. It’s the first single to come from the American band’s forthcoming seventh album. Maroon 5 last charted with ‘Memories’ (#2 Nov. ’19), which spent 41 weeks in the Top 50.
Debuting at #44, Australian singer-songwriter Sam Fischer and American artist Demi Lovato join forces on the single ‘What Other People Say’. The track comes from Lovato’s seventh album, Dancing with the Devil... the Art of Starting Over, released on 2 April. Fischer was nominated for Song Of The Year at the 2020 ARIA Awards for ‘This City’ (#17 Jun. ’20). In 2020, Lovato charted with the Sam Smith collaboration ‘I’m Ready’ (#25 Apr. ’20) and ‘OK Not to Be OK’ (#47 Sept. ’20) with Marshmello.
