Ball Park Music rack up their first #1 album this week, as Like Love debuts at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, while Aussie metal band Thornhill come in at #4.
Ball Park Music have released eight studio albums, seven of which have reached the top 10. Three peaked at #2: Puddinghead in 2014, Ball Park Music in 2020 and Weirder & Weirder in 2022.
Thornhill arrive at #4 with Bodies. Their debut album, The Dark Road, stopped at #20 in 2019, while Heroine peaked at #3 in 2022.
Elton John returns to the albums chart with Who Believes In Angels?, a collaboration album with Brandi Carlile, new at #26. Elton has scored 41 top 20 albums, stretching back to Elton John, which peaked at #2 in 1971. Excluding compilation albums, he was last in the top 20 in 2021 with The Lockdown Sessions, which peaked at #2.
Iconic Australian singer John Williamson lands at #51 with How Many Songs. It’s his 21st studio album; he has also released 25 compilation albums and eight live albums. His best result? Warragul, which spent one week at #1 in 1989. Williamson has won four ARIA Awards and joined the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2010.
On the Singles Chart, Alex Warren makes it three weeks in a row at #1 with Ordinary, while Drake hits the top five with Nokia, up from #10 to #5.
Ed Sheeran’s new single, Azizam, arrives at #30. It’s the lead single from his upcoming album, Play, and his 51st top 40 single.
Ed has racked up six #1 hits: Sing (one week in 2014), Thinking Out Loud (five weeks in 2014), Shape Of You (15 weeks in 2017), Perfect (eight weeks in 2017), I Don’t Care with Justin Bieber (one week in 2019) and Bad Habits (two weeks in 2021).
