Debuts for Flume, Beyoncé and more!
After debuting at #2 last week, ‘Just Like Fire’ moved up one spot this week to give P!nk her eighth #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The American artist’s first #1 came with ‘Most Girls’ (#1 Oct. ’00). She has since topped the chart with her collaboration with Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim and Mýa, ‘Lady Marmalade’ (#1 May ‘01), as well as ‘Get The Party Started’ (#1 Dec. ’01), ‘So What’ (#1 Sept. ’08), ‘Raise Your Glass’ (#1 Oct. ’10), ‘Blow Me (One Last Kiss)’ (#1 Jul. ’12) and ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ (#1 Feb. ’13).
Following the passing of Prince last week, the legendary artist’s catalogue has experienced an enormous surge in sales. Eight tracks feature in the top 50 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart. At #3, the title track of Prince & The Revolution’s 1984 album and film Purple Rain is the highest charting track of the eight. It’s the highest ever peak on the ARIA Singles Chart for ‘Purple Rain’; It peaked at #41 in November 1984. He’s also charting with ‘When Doves Cry’ (#11), ‘Little Red Corvette’ (#22), ‘Kiss’ (#27), ‘1999’ (#28), ‘Cream’ (#30), ‘Raspberry Beret’ (#31) and ‘Diamonds And Pearls’ (#50).
A jump of five spots for ‘One Dance’ gives Drake his second top five on the Singles Chart. It comes the week his fourth album Views is released.
There’s also new peaks for Dua Lipa’s ‘Be The One’ (up one to #7) and Luke Christopher’s ‘Lot To Learn’ (up seven to #32).
Debuts:
#7: Flume Feat. Tove Lo ‘Say It’ - Ahead of the release of Skin in May, Flume picks up another chart appearance with the album’s third single, ‘Say It’. It’s the follow-up to ‘Never Be Like You’ (#1 Feb. ’16) and ‘Smoke & Retribution’ (#23 Feb. ’16).
#19: Galantis ‘No Money’ – Swedish duo Galantis chart with ‘No Money’. It’s the third single to chart, following on from ‘Runaway (U & I)’ (#4 Apr. ’15) and ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’ (#3 Aug. ’15).
#24: Beyoncé ‘Formation’ – The first single from Beyoncé‘s new #1 album Lemonade gives the star her first Singles Chart appearance since ‘7/11’ (#41 Dec. ’14). It premiered back in February and was part of Beyoncé‘s appearance with Coldplay at the Super Bowl half-time show.
#49: Topic Feat. Nico Santos ‘Home’ – German producer Topic makes his top 50 debut with ‘Home’. The track, which features German/Spanish singer-songwriter Nico Santos, has already charted in several countries sin Europe including Germany.
