It’s an Australian #1 this week as The Winding Way by The Teskey Brothers debuts in the top spot on the ARIA Albums Chart, with Queens of the Stone Age biting at their heels at #2.
The fifth album from the Melbourne blues rock band, The Winding Way marks a second ARIA #1 for four-time ARIA Award winners after they went to #1 in 2020 with Live At The Forum. Their most recent studio album, Run Home Slow, peaked at #2 in 2019
On their success, Josh Teskey said: “In the words of Michael Gudinski, "number one son!" We’re feeling so honoured and thankful to all you folks back home for the support, we love yas!”
ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd said: “As always, it’s thrilling to see an Australian act top the chart. A huge congratulations to The Teskey Brothers from all of us at ARIA for a second #1.
“Between Cub Sport, Peach PRC and The Teskey Brothers, it’s really exciting to see the diversity of albums making it to #1 in Australia, but three Aussie #1s this year simply isn’t enough! Australia: get listening, get playlisting and get sharing your favourite local artists. It’s time to get more of our brilliant home-grown talent on the charts.”
The eighth studio album from American rockers Queens of the Stone Age, In Times New Roman, debuts at #2. The band hit #1 here in 2013 with Like Clockwork and in 2017 with Villains.
The 20th anniversary edition of Dannii Minogue’s 2003 album Neon Nights debuts at #17. An expanded 33-track version of the original, the album peaked at #25 when it was originally released. Dannii’s highest charting album here so far is her debut, Love And Kisses, which peaked at #24 in 1990.
On the Singles Chart, Dannii’s older sister Kylie continues her chart renaissance, with Padam Padam jumping from #29 to #19. She was last in the top 20 in 2012, when Timebomb topped out at #12.
It’s the third week at #1 for Sprinter by Dave and Central Cee, while Calm Down by Rema and Selena Gomez reaches a highpoint in its 42nd week on the chart, jumping from #17 to #11.
