ALBUM

Silverchair - Diorama

With their fourth studio album, Newcastle trio Silverchair scored the fourth of their five #1s on the ARIA Albums Chart. Diorama spent only its debut week at #1 but went on to spend 11 weeks in the top ten and 50 weeks in the top 50. The album was accredited 3x Platinum and was #18 on the 2002 ARIA End Of Year Albums Chart.

Four singles from Diorama charted: ‘The Greatest View’ (#3 Feb. ’02), ‘Without You’ (#8 May ’02), ‘Luv Your Life’ (#20 Sept. ’02) and ‘Across The Night’ (#24 Apr. ’03).

Diorama earned Silverchair five ARIA Awards in 2002, including Best Rock Album and Best Groiup.

Silverchair also topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Frogstomp (#1 Apr. ’95), Freak Show (#1 Feb. ’97), Neon Ballroom (#1 Mar. ’99) and Young Modern (#1 Apr. ’07). The band announced an indefinite hiatus in 2011.

Single

Kasey CHambers - Not PRetty ENough

Singer-songwriter Kasey Chambers’ only #1 single to date on the ARIA Charts came when ‘Not Pretty Enough’ spent four straight weeks in the top spot in March/April 2002. The third single from Chambers’ second solo album, Barricades & Brickwalls (#1 Feb. ’02), ‘Not Pretty Enough’ debuted at #34 in January 2002 and hit #1 for the first time in its ninth week in the top 50.

The single spent 13 weeks in the top ten and 21 weeks in the top 50. It hit #7 on the 2002 ARIA End Of Year Singles Chart and was accredited 2x Platinum.

Chambers won three ARIA Awards in 2002, including Album Of The Year for Barricades & Brickwalls.

Kasey Chambers’ last appearance in the ARIA top 50 was with ‘Nothing At All’ (#9 Jul. ’06). She last topped the ARIA Albums Chart with Dragonfly (#1 Jan. ’17) and was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame in 2018.
