5 Seconds Of Summer’s third album Youngblood becomes the sixth Australian #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2018 after Sheppard’s Watching The Sky, Parkway Drive’s Reverence, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu’s Djarimirri (Child Of The Rainbow), Kylie Minogue’s Golden and Vance Joy’s Nation Of Two.

The Sydney band are #1 for fifth week on the Singles Chart with Youngblood's title track. The last time an Australian artist held the #1s on both charts was August 2011 when Gotye was #1 on the Singles Chart with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ and #1 on the Albums Chart with Making Mirrors.

This is the 33rd week in ARIA Charts history that the same Australian artist has held the #1 spots on both the Albums and Singles charts.

?, the second album from XXXTentacion jumps 21 spots to #5 in light of the rapper’s death. The album previously peaked at #3.

With his first Australian tour announced for October, British artist Calum Scott returns to the Top 50 this week at #7 with Only Human. As well his re-entry on the Albums Chart, Scott has returned to the Top 50 on the Singles Chart with two tracks:  ‘You Are The Reason’ (#37) and ‘Dancing On My Own’ (#49).

Also announcing a tour this week, Bon Jovi re-enters the chart at #34 with This House Is Not For Sale.

Debuts:

#1: 5 Seconds Of Summer ‘Youngblood’ – Sydney band 5 Seconds Of Summer score their third #1 debut on the ARIA Albums Chart with Youngblood. The group’s third studio album is their first since Sounds Good Feels Good (#1 Nov. ’15) and features the singles ‘Want You Back’ (#32 Mar. ’18) and ‘Youngblood’, which is spending its fifth consecutive week at #1 on the Singles Chart this week. 5SOS first topped the Albums Chart with their self-titled debut (#1 Jul. ’14).

#6: The Carters ‘Everything Is Love’ – One of music’s most powerful couples, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, release their first album as The Carters, Everything Is Love. Released to coincide with their On The Run II tour of Europe and North America, the album is Beyoncé’s first to chart since Lemonade (#1 May ’16) and Jay-Z’s first since 4:44 (#3 Jul. ’17).

#9: Christina Aguilera ‘Liberation’ – Christina Aguilera returns with her first album in six years, Liberation. The follow-up to Lotus (#19 Nov. ’12), Aguilera’s eighth studio album becomes her first to hit the Top Ten since Bionic (#3 Jun. ’10). Liberation features several tracks produced by Kanye West, as well as contributions from Demi Lovato, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign and Anderson .Paak.

#11: Jess & Matt ‘Songs From The Village’ – Sydney duo Jess & Matt pay tribute to 60s folk on Songs From The Village. The album is the pair’s third release to chart after Jess & Matt (#9 Dec. ’15) and the EP Belmont Street (#20 Feb. ’17). It features covers of tracks by Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell and more.

#12: Mike Shinoda ‘Post Traumatic’ – Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda releases his debut solo album, Post Traumatic. It’s Shinoda’s second release of 2018, having released an EP in January also titled Post Traumatic. As a member of Linkin Park, Shinoda last charted with One More Light Live (#20 Dec. ’17) and with the studio album One More Light (#3 May ’17).

#24: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever ‘Hope Downs’ – Melbourne indie rockers Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever score their debut appearance in the ARIA Top 50 with Hope Downs. Prior to the release of their debut album, the group had released two EPs: 2016’s Talk Tight and 2017’s The French Press.

#36: Cosmo's Midnight ‘What Comes Next’ – Electronic duo Cosmo's Midnight release their debut album, What Comes Next. The Sydney pair, which consists of twins Cosmo and Patrick Liney, has been releasing music since 2013. Their previous output includes the EPs Surge (2013) and Moments (2015).

#37: Jay Rock ‘Redemption’ – LA hip hop artist Jay Rock makes his ARIA Albums Chart debut with Redemption. Rock’s third album is the follow-up to 2015’s 90059 and includes contributions from Kendrick Lamar (who also serves as co-executive producer), Future, SZA, J Cole and more. The track ‘King’s Dead’ previously appeared on Black Panther: The Album (#2 Feb. ’18).

#45: Buddy Guy ‘The Blues Is Alive And Well’ – Guitar legend Buddy Guy takes out a third Top 50 entry with The Blues Is Alive And Well. Guy’s 18th studio album comes three years on from the Grammy-winning Born To Play Guitar (#47 Aug. ’15). The new album includes guest appearances from Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Jeff Beck, James Bay and more.
