Get to know the Brisbane house producer.
Born in a house and currently living in a house, Mark Maxwell creates house music that you can listen to in your own house. Ultimately, you’re more likely to hear it in a nightclub or by the pool on your local tropical island as his music, created in Australia, crosses borders quicker than a Contiki bus driver.
Back once again with Double-Up Records, his latest EP is out May 2016. Combining heart-wrenching blues vocals with shuffling percussion and a thunderous bass line, the title track ‘Take My Hand’, shines a light on Mark’s passion for classic house music. This sound is pushed even deeper in ‘Help This Woman’, which takes you into a world where cocktails by the pool are served every day. It’s rounded out by ‘Everything I Need’, with its finely tuned funk groove and androgynous vocal.
As a graduate from the Red Bull Music Academy in 2014 (Tokyo), Mark is no stranger to a festival stage or nightclub. He has performed across Australian stages at Splendour in the Grass and Listen Out music festivals.
Highlights from 2016 include the Double Up Records release of ‘Bringing Me Down / Wade In The Water’, the independent release of ‘You Be the Judge’, and the independent remix of ‘Tin Top’, a classic funk track from Kenny Mann and Liquid Pleasure Band (which received support from Stonebridge and Eton Messy).
A music fan through and through, be sure to tune in now as Mark Maxwell continues to cement his place in the global house music scene.
