Kendrick Lamar’s performance at Super Bowl LIX, his GRAMMY wins and the release of the album on physical formats send GNX vaulting from #15 back to #1 on the Album Charts this week, while Not Like Us climbs back to claim #1 on the Singles Chart. It’s the first time he has held both positions at once.
GNX is his third #1 album here, it spent one week at #1 in December last year. Kendrick also hit the top with To Pimp A Butterfly in 2015 and Mr Morale & The Big Steppers in 2022.
Taylor Swift returns with Lover – Live From Paris, new at #14. Recorded at the one-off City of Lover concert in Paris on 9 September 2019, it was first released as a Valentine’s Day limited-edition vinyl album in February 2023 and was reissued this month on double, heart-shaped vinyl. Of Taylor’s 18 albums that have made the ARIA Albums Chart, 13 have gone to #1 and only four have missed the top 10.
On the Singles Chart, Dom Dolla is new at #33 with Dreamin, featuring Daya. The winner of three ARIA Awards, Dom hit #10 last year with Saving Up. American singer Daya reached #6 in 2015 with Hide Away and featured on The Chainsmokers’ #3 hit Don’t Let Me Down in 2016.
Rosé and Bruno Mars follow closely behind Kendrick with APT. at #2, while Bruno just became the first artist to achieve 150 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His other current hit, Die With A Smile with Lady Gaga, is at #6 this week; it peaked at #2 last year.
Speaking of Lady Gaga, she scores her 23rd top 20 hit, as Abracadabra races from #50 to #12. The track is from her seventh studio album, Mayhem, which arrives next month. It’s the second song called Abracadabra to reach the top 10: Steve Miller Band spent two weeks at #1 in 1982 with a song of the same name.
The GRAMMYs are also a charm for Chappell Roan who scores her second top 10 hit as Pink Pony Club gallops from #22 to #7. She is also at #10 with former #4 hit Good Luck, Babe!.
