Former X Factor winner makes it big in Sweden.
ARIA Chart topper Dami Im has successfully made it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest after performing her power ballad ‘Sound of Silence’ at the second semi-final on Thursday night (Swedish time).
The former X Factor winner is one of 10 performers to earn a spot in the final. The other semi-finalists to get through were from Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania and Belgium.
They now join the 16 other countries that had already reached the Grand Final, either by automatic qualification (ie Big 5 plus host nation) or from qualifying from the first Semi-Final.
Im is Australia’s second entrant to Eurovision, following Guy Sebastian, who placed fifth last year with his song ‘Tonight Again’.
The Eurovision Grand Final airs live this Sunday May 15 at 5am on SBS. The two semi-finals will also be screened in primetime, with additional packaged material, at 7.30pm on Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14, with the final airing on Sunday, May 15.
