Adelaide-born artist ends Drake's ten-week reign.
Multiple ARIA Award-winning singer-songwriter Sia has claimed her first #1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Cheap Thrills’.
Taken from Sia’s seventh album This Is Acting (#1 Feb. ’16), the version of the track that has gone to #1 in the US was remixed and vocals from Jamaican artist Sean Paul added. Its move to #1 has ended a ten-week run in the top spot by Drake's 'One Dance'.
While this is Sia’s first #1 single in the US as an artist, the Adelaide-born artist has previously topped the chart as a writer. Rihanna's ‘Diamonds’, which Sia co-wrote, spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2012. ‘Cheap Thrills’ was another track intended for Rihanna, proposed for her Anti album. However, Sia wound up recording it herself.
Sia’s fourth top ten single in Australia, ‘Cheap Thrills’ peaked at #6 on the ARIA Singles Chart in April 2016. It’s been accredited 3x Platinum.
