Debuts for Clean Bandit, Backstreet Boys and more!
Moving up two spots with ‘Youngblood’, Sydney’s 5 Seconds Of Summer become the first Australian act to hit #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart in almost two years. The single is the band’s second #1 on the ARIA Charts, having topped the chart for a week in March 2014 with ‘She Looks Perfect’. The last Australian single to top the ARIA Charts was The Veronicas’ ‘In My Blood’, which spent two weeks in the top spot in July 2016.
Holding its place in the Top Ten for a second week, Amy Shark’s ‘I Said Hi’ moves up one spot to a new peak this week at #8.
Jumping up two spots to #10, Anne-Marie’s ‘2002’ cracks the Top Ten for the first time. It’s the English artist’s third Top Ten entry, having previously charted with ‘Alarm’ (#7 Aug. ’16) and the Marshmello collaboration ‘Friends’ (#4 Apr. ’18).
In its third week in the Top 50, ‘Lovely’, the chart debut appearance for Californian singer-songwriter Billie Eilish, moves up 13 spots to claim a new peak at #21.
King Princess’ ‘1950’ hits a new peak of #26 after a climb of six spots. It’s the seventh week the track has been in the chart.
This week’s Singles Chart also includes new peaks for Selena Gomez’s ‘Back To You’ (#12), Kygo’s ‘Remind Me To Forget’ (#14), David Guetta & Sia’s ‘Flames’ (#19), Khalid x Ty Dolla $ign x 6lack’s ‘OTW” (#27), Dennis Lloyd’s ‘Nevermind’ (#29), Hayden James’ ‘Just Friends’ (#33), Kyle’s ‘Playinwitme’ (#38) and The Chainsmokers and Drew Love’s ‘Somebody’ (#46).
Debuts:
#36: BTS ‘Fake Love’ – Seven-piece Korean pop group BTS score their second appearance in the ARIA Top 50 with ‘Fake Love’. The track comes from their sixth studio album, Love Yourself: 轉 'Tear’, which has debuted at #6 on this week’s Albums Chart. BTS’ previous chart peak was with ‘MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)’ (#50 Dec. ’17).
#39: Clean Bandit Feat Demi Lovato ‘Solo’ – British trio Clean Bandit release their first single for 2018, ‘Solo’. The collaboration with Demi Lovato becomes Clean Bandit’s sixth Top 50 entry and their first since ‘I Miss You’ (#20 Jan. ’18).
#50: Backstreet Boys ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ – The Backstreet Boys pick up their first Top 50 entry on the ARIA Singles Chart since 2007 with ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’. The first track released from the group’s ninth studio album gives them their first chart entry since ‘Inconsolable’ (#43 Oct. ’07). It’s their 19th single to hit the Top 50.
