Debuts for The Presets, Ghost, Father John Misty and more!
With his eighth studio album, ye, American hip hop superstar Kanye West takes out his second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart (more below).
Luke Combs scores a new peak with This One’s For You. The American country artist’s debut album debuted at #16 in March and spent the last nine weeks outside of the Top 50 before making its return. The resurgence comes on the back of the release of a deluxe edition of the album that includes five additional tracks.
As Beerbongs & Bentleys sits at #2 for the third week in its six-week chart run, Post Malone’s Stoney has moved back up five spots to #14.
Hitting its 30th week in the Top 50, Taylor Swift’s Reputation climbs up seven spots to #15.
After playing the Australian dates of his world tour during the week, Niall Horan returns to the chart at #28 with Flicker.
With their October/November national tour continuing to expand, Gang Of Youths have jumped back to #41 with Go Farther In Lightness.
Debuts:
#1: Kanye West ‘ye’– American rapper Kanye West takes out his second #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, debuting in the top spot with his eighth studio album, ye. The album comes two years on from The Life Of Pablo and is his first to chart since Yeezus (#1 Jun. ’13). ye includes contributions from Kid Cudi, Nicki Minaj, Ty Dolla Sign, 070 Shake and more. All seven of the album’s tracks have hit the Top 50 on this week’s ARIA Singles Chart: ‘All Mine’ (#12), ‘Yikes’ (#18), ‘Ghost Town’ (#22), ‘Wouldn’t Leave’ (#33), ‘Violent Crimes’ (#40), ‘I Thought About Killing You’ (#41) and ‘No Mistakes’ (#46). West last appeared on the Singles Chart with ‘Famous’ (#43 Jul. ’16).
#5: The Presets ‘Hi Viz’ – Returning with Hi Viz, their first album in six years, Sydney duo The Presets score their third Top Ten entry on the ARIA Albums Chart. The dance act’s fourth studio album features guest appearances from Alison Wonderland and DMA’s. The Presets have previously charted with Apocalypso (#1 Apr. ’08) and Pacifica (#3 Sept. ’12).
#7: Ghost ‘Prequelle’ – Ghost pick up a new ARIA Albums Chart peak with Prequelle. The Swedish heavy metal band’s fourth studio album is their second to hit the Top 50, following Meliora (#20 Aug. ’15). The album marks the debut of front man Tobias Forge’s new character “Cardinal Copia”.
#9: Father John Misty ‘God’s Favorite Customer’ – American singer-songwriter Josh Tillman hits a new Albums Chart peak with his fourth album under the Father John Misty moniker, God’s Favorite Customer. The release comes just over a year on from previous album Pure Comedy (#14 Apr. ’17) and features contributions from Mark Ronson, Weyes Blood and Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado, among others.
#23: Ben Howard ‘Noonday Dream’ – Ben Howard releases his first album in four years, Noonday Dream. The British singer-songwriter’s third studio album is the follow-up to Forget Where We Were (#9 Nov. ’14). As well as being a solo artist, Howard is also a member of the collective A Blaze of Feather.
#45: Soundtrack ’13 Reasons Why Season 2’ – The soundtrack to the second season of Netflix series 13 Reasons Why makes its chart debut this week. The album includes Selena Gomez’s ‘Back To You’ (#7 Jun. ’18) and Billie Eilish’s ‘Lovely’ (#13 Jun. ’18), as well as tracks by OneRepublic, Yungblud and Years & Years.
